Hybrid Solar System Price in India (2026)
Indicative installed prices for hybrid home systems at our standard ₹72,000 per kW rate (±10%), with the central PM Surya Ghar subsidy:
| System | Price | Subsidy | Price after subsidy |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 kW | ₹64,800 – ₹79,200 | ₹30,000 | ₹34,800 – ₹49,200 |
| 2 kW | ₹1,29,600 – ₹1,58,400 | ₹60,000 | ₹69,600 – ₹98,400 |
| 3 kW | ₹1,94,400 – ₹2,37,600 | ₹78,000 | ₹1,16,400 – ₹1,59,600 |
| 4 kW | ₹2,59,200 – ₹3,16,800 | ₹78,000 | ₹1,81,200 – ₹2,38,800 |
| 5 kW | ₹3,24,000 – ₹3,96,000 | ₹78,000 | ₹2,46,000 – ₹3,18,000 |
| 10 kW | ₹6,48,000 – ₹7,92,000 | ₹78,000 | ₹5,70,000 – ₹7,14,000 |
Hybrid quotes vary most in the battery. A quote with a small battery looks cheap but backs up little; compare the battery kWh in every quote with what the calculator above says you need. As a guide, each kWh of lithium storage costs about ₹18,000 and each kWh of lead-acid about ₹9,000. Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Assam add state top-ups to the subsidy.
How a Hybrid Solar System Works
Panels feed a hybrid inverter, which does three jobs: it powers your home, charges the battery, and exports any surplus to the grid through a net meter, just like an on-grid system. When the grid fails, it disconnects from the grid for safety and keeps your backup loads running from the battery, and most hybrid inverters keep using solar power during the cut as well. When the grid returns, it switches back automatically.
Hybrid vs On-Grid vs Off-Grid Solar
| On-grid | Hybrid | Off-grid | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price per kW (installed) | ~₹58,000 | ~₹72,000 | ~₹85,000 |
| PM Surya Ghar subsidy | Yes | Yes | No |
| Works in a power cut | No | Yes, from the battery | Yes, no grid needed |
| Exports surplus to the grid | Yes | Yes | No |
| Best for | Reliable power, lowest bill | Frequent power cuts | No grid connection |
Batteries add backup, not savings, so a hybrid system pays back more slowly than on-grid. See the off grid solar system calculation guide if you have no grid at all.
